Last November, Gov. Whitmer signed a bill into law to streamline the process to review and approve new clean energy projects such as wind, solar and battery storage. Local governments have knowledge about the area and the state has more expertise where new projects would be ideally placed to serve energy needs, the two entities need to collaborate to determine the best locations to build. This bill allows landowners to build on their own land and provides local communities with more access to experts at the Public Service Commission, and these projects bring both faster clean energy access and jobs to the area.
These projects would create jobs and generate new tax revenue for local governments in the state. Unfortunately, anti-clean energy activists are making inaccurate claims about the legislation, and we need to fight back.
Thank your state representative today to let them know that you appreciate their vote to let landowners control their own land, cut government red tape around project construction, and ensure that jobs and tax revenue benefits flow to local communities!
