• Why It Matters

  Our demand for electricity is rising fast. Meanwhile, Trump is cutting programs for building new energy sources and cutting funding for bill assistance programs. 

  Some energy sources – like solar panels – can create excess energy at times when the demand for energy is low. Right now, that energy is wasted. Meanwhile, during hours of peak energy demand, prices surge because of supply and demand. Batteries would allow us to increase supply when we need it most, by capturing excess energy during times of low demand and dispatching it during peak hours. By increasing energy supply through energy storage, we can alleviate the supply constraints that cause you to pay more for energy during specific times or seasons.

• What’s the Solution?

  Fortunately, Springfield has solutions: batteries. Solar and wind are some of the cheapest sources of energy, and they can create EXCESS supply. These innovative batteries store the extra energy produced and discharge it when our grids need it. This means direct savings. Batteries saved Texans a whopping $750 million on bills last year. The same legislation would also lower the price for homeowners, renters, and businesses to access solar and back-up storage—giving you more direct control of your own energy costs.
