When the state legislature passed a bill aiming to get Virginia to 100% clean energy by 2050, it specified that the Commonwealth would need to build large-scale solar projects to get there. However, 14% of Virginia counties have already put forth bills to ban these projects! We can’t meet our clean energy goals without these projects.
While local input is important, a complete ban on these projects prevents us from getting to our clean energy goals. A bill in the state legislature (SB697) does a good job of balancing local control while ensuring we can meet our clean energy goals and combat climate change.
This bill has passed the state Senate but faces hurdles in the state House. Send a letter to your state representative today and ask them to vote for this bill.
