SB 1287 would raise costs on hard-working Texans

• Why It Matters

  SB 1287 is moving quickly in Texas and could be voted on as early as the weekend of May 20th. This bill changes the cost of connecting new energy projects to the electrical grid, and harms clean energy. Clean energy is less expensive than traditional sources of energy like coal and gas. This bill claims to solve a problem that doesn’t really exist. Therefore, the bill only exists because fossil fuel-funded representatives in the legislature want to harm the development of clean energy in Texas.

• What’s the Solution?

  The solution is to stop this bill. Last legislative session, the state House rejected this same bill. They need to do it again, but there are no guarantees, especially because this bill just passed the House State Affairs Committee on Thursday night. We need to get as many people as possible to take action quickly so our elected officials know to vote NO on this bill.
