• Why It Matters

  If you buy solar panels, battery storage, or another appliance or resource that creates energy, especially if that resource provides more power than you can use and you send it back to the electric grid, which provides power for those around you.

  But a new bill in Texas – SB 2021 – gives utilities the ability to delay, deny, or limit your ability to interconnect to the grid. It also gives no guarantee of fair compensation to those who contribute power to the grid!

  With more extreme weather hitting the state, we need to entice people to invest in upgrades like solar and energy storage, but this bill would discourage those investments.

• What’s the Solution?

  The Texas legislature should ensure fair compensation for those who provide power to the grid, streamline connection processes, and empower resilience rather than resist it. For now, the goal is to defeat bill SB 2021 so we don’t move backward!
