Say Yes to Clean Energy in Virginia
Virginians have said yes to investing in clean energy but, Governor Glenn Youngkin only knows how to say NO.
-
Why It Matters
Virginia is a leader in the transition to a clean energy future. It’s the only southern state with an 100% clean energy commitment and has adopted requirements that will phase in electrification of passenger vehicles. But, Governor Youngkin keeps saying no, putting politics before the progress we’re making. His administration is trying to remove Virginia from a regional climate reduction program, has pushed for legislation to weaken the Clean Economy Act, and wants to make it harder for Virginians to buy an electric vehicle. To top it off, he personally stepped in and blocked a new electric vehicle battery plant from being sited in Virginia, costing the Commonwealth over 2,000 jobs.

What’s the Solution?
All that stands in the way of Youngkin and Wheeler pushing their extreme agenda on Virginia is a slim two-seat Democratic majority in the Virginia Senate. With all 140 members of the Virginia legislature up for election this fall, we’re on a razor’s edge of Virginia losing its position as a leader. That’s why Counterspark is committed to holding Glenn Youngkin accountable at every turn this year. Virginians need to know how out of step Glenn Youngkin is with the rest of our Commonwealth
