• Why It Matters

  Resources like solar and wind have been vital to keeping the lights on in Texas – especially during extreme weather. They provide affordable, predictable power when we need it most and complement other energy sources on the grid. But they can’t be treated like fossil fuels – they work differently, and that’s exactly why they’re so valuable.

  They’re also some of the cheapest forms of energy available, so they keep costs down while providing energy. This has led to major solar investment in Texas, so it’s one of the top states in the country with regard to clean energy investment.

  But a new bill (SB 715) seeks to require the impossible – for solar and other renewable energy sources to create a consistent amount of power at all times.

• What’s the Solution?

  If this bill passes, using solar and wind power in the state would become impossible. Texas has a more reliable, affordable grid because of all of our solar. Plus, the state’s economy has boomed with BILLIONS in investments. Passing the bill would take us backwards.
