Giving Xcel a monopoly won’t help consumers

• Why It Matters

  Colorado has the tools needed to achieve 100% clean energy. We have the workforce, the abundant natural resources, and the technologies to rapidly achieve this goal. The good news is that we have the momentum to get us there, we just need the right framework in place to hold the utilities accountable for delivering those solutions to our families and businesses. Guaranteeing Xcel the right to lead at least half of that work will not help innovation, implementation speed, or prices.

• What’s the Solution?

  While laying out the plan for 100% clean energy by 2040, the legislature and governor should require investor-owned utilities to compete with other energy providers to source clean energy.

• What Can I Do?

  Sign our letter on this page to Gov. Polis and your state legislators to urge them to pass legislation that will create an appropriate plan to get the state to 100% clean energy while prioritizing people, not utility companies.
