Californians already pay some of the highest energy costs in the nation, and prices are going up! Plus, the electric grid is outdated, and we continue to heavily rely on dirty fossil fuels.
There are some pieces of legislation that can help, but they need to pass before September 12!
There are four bills that, if passed, can help!
AB 740 and 44 will help unlock the benefits of Virtual Power Plants (VPPs). VPPs coordinate smart devices like smart thermostats, electric vehicle chargers, home batteries, and smart water heaters to deliver clean power without the need for new costly infrastructure. AB 740 would direct California’s energy agencies to create a statewide plan for VPPs and AB 44 makes it easier for utilities to use VPPs – generating savings that can be passed on to you, the utility customer!
AB 1408 speeds up clean energy deployment by letting solar, wind, and energy storage connect to the grid using the same infrastructure that serves already existing fossil gas generators.
SB 710 will extend the property tax exclusion for rooftop solar on homes for another five years, protecting one of California’s most successful clean energy incentives.
Email your state legislators today to make sure these bills pass! Then, share this page with friends and family in California. The more people state reps hear from, the more likely they are to prioritize the legislation!
