Unlock Clean Energy. Lower Our Bills
California’s clean energy projects are stuck in line - waiting years to connect more affordable energy. AB 1408 would help fix that. >>
-
Why It Matters
Californians pay some of the highest electricity prices in the country – up 44% since 2020. Meanwhile, solar is the cheapest energy on the market, but solar projects are being held up by long grid connection delays.
New studies show that we can connect up to 75 gigawatts of clean energy, almost doubling current energy available in CA, using grid access already in place at underused power plants. That means lower bills and cleaner air—just by using our existing grid infrastructure more effectively.

What’s the Solution?
New legislation in California – AB 1408 – could help. This bill directs the grid operator in the state (called CAISO) and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to make use of existing underutilized infrastructure so new solar projects can plug in faster, cheaper, and smarter.
Passing this bill would save money for Californians – and quickly!
