• Why It Matters

  Utilities predict energy prices as part of their obligations. However, especially when extreme weather hits and there’s higher demand than expected, the prices become extremely volatile and spike above their prediction. Right now, NV Energy passes those volatile energy costs along to customers, insulating shareholders from any risk and putting the burden entirely on you. That’s why your bill is unpredictable – and seemingly always too high.

• What’s the Solution?

  The new legislation – AB 452 – would direct the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada to investigate this practice and help NV Energy design a fair system where the utility shares the burden and helps protect you from higher prices and unchecked utility spending.
