• Why It Matters

  Texas is the #1 state in the country for solar – yes, even beating California. Abundant solar development has meant more energy and more reliable energy.

  But a bill in the Texas Senate would kneecap solar and wind development. The bill would require at least half of new generation to be dispatchable (easy to turn on or off as the grid demands at any moment) and forces wind and solar to pay for credits to make it happen. Since clean energy does not work in this way, it’s an attack on this industry – which is not only healthier for Texas but also has created jobs and massive investment in the state.

• What’s the Solution?

  The free market has been working in Texas – solar development has happened not because the state required it but because developers have found it to be the best investment, and it’s worked to keep bills in check and keep energy flowing.
