The Arizona state legislature has introduced more bills than ever this year. Unfortunately, that includes more terrible energy bills than in prior years.
Across the country and in Arizona, the demand for energy is growing. And our sweltering summers already put a strain on our grid. Plus, electricity costs are already high, and we know that clean energy can help. That’s why we need to build more clean energy, fast. However, several pieces of legislation before the legislature get in the way of both building energy and using clean energy.
Several of these bills clamp down on clean energy specifically, even though solar is among the lowest-cost sources of new electricity. One bill would even treat large solar and wind projects as a “public nuisance” which functions more like a sweeping ban and invites constant lawsuits.
