These bills can save Californians money using clean energy!

Industry, environmental, and grassroots advocates agree >>

Why It Matters

Californians already pay some of the highest energy costs in the nation, and prices keep going up! Plus, the electric grid is outdated, and we continue to heavily rely on dirty fossil fuels.

What's The Solution?

Fortunately, the state Assembly and Senate passed these bills that will help by getting the most out of our existing grid infrastructure and the advanced technologies already connected to it:

  • AB 740 (Harabedian): Unlocks the full potential of virtual power plants (VPPs), networks of DERs across homes and businesses, to meet the grid’s needs and lower ratepayer costs.
  • AB 1408 (Irwin): Streamlines surplus interconnection, allowing new solar, wind, and energy storage resources to connect to the grid infrastructure in places already served by existing energy infrastructure.

These bills will speed up our adoption of clean energy, help keep the lights on, and drive down costs borne by ratepayers.
